Nissan said today that U.S. sales of its cars and trucks declined 7% in September compared with the same month a year ago as the industry struggled with low inventories and a drop-off in customers following expiration of the government's cash-for-clunkers incentive program.
General Motors Corp. reported today that its U.S. light-vehicle sales fell by 12.9% in February compared with a year ago. The new Malibu performed well.
Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. said today its profit increased 7.4% percent last year but said expects profits will drop 29.5% this year as it battles the rising value of the yen, increasing oil and raw material costs and slower sales in the United States.
