Ford Motor's Co.'s stock price zoomed past $6 per share last week for the first time since last July. On Wednesday -- the day Ford announced it would invest $550 million to retool Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne and build an electric version of the Focus -- Ford's stock closed at $6.26 per share.

Ford's stock closed at less than $10 per share on Wednesday for the first time since the automaker announced last week that it was making progress with its effort to sell Volvo. Shares of Ford closed Wednesday at $9.99 per share, down 12 cents.

Since December, Michigan Assembly Plant -- which closed in 2008 and used to build big trucks -- has been evolving.

The accidental death of an employee this morning at Ford Motor Co.'s Woodhaven Stamping Plant closed the factory down early in the day. It is the third death at a local Ford factory in the past three years.

Ford Motor Co. said today that it is adding third shifts at its Dearborn Truck Plant and at its Kansas City Assembly Plant to meet demand for Ford F-150 pickups and Escape crossovers.
